Sterling Public Schools has canceled school for tomorrow, Thursday February 16th.
This decision was based on the National Weather Service’s Severe Winter Storm Warning for Sterling, IL where they are forecasting a winter-mix of sleet and ice starting at 6 AM, followed by 5 to 8 inches of snow then 20 to 30 mph winds. With these conditions, country roads will be extremely dangerous, making bus routes almost impossible to traverse.
This decision was made tonight so that parents had an opportunity to arrange child care, if needed, for their child or children tomorrow. Stay safe and warm!
School Districts in Illinois are required to be closed for the general election. Sterling Public Schools will not have school on 11/8/22.

Parents,
At approximately 2:00 pm today, Seesaw notified users that they have resolved the breach and have turned back on the messaging feature within Seesaw. Additionally, they have reset all passwords for users that was breached. SPS is turning Seesaw back on for our preK-3 students and families. We encourage all parents to change the password to their accounts. Additionally, the district will continue to monitor any content shared.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the District Office at 815-626-5050.
Respectfully,
Dr. Tad Everett
Superintendent
Parents,
SPS was notified this morning of a breach with Seesaw. Seesaw is an online tool mainly used by students in PreK-2 and some 3rd grade sections for communication and online learning. An inappropriate picture was sent from an outside source. This breach impacted all Seesaw users across the nation.
SPS has disabled all aspects of the Seesaw learning platform. Students and staff no longer have access to the system until the issue is resolved by Seesaw. We are recommending that parents not access Seesaw through their personal devices until the issue is resolved and that parents reset any username and password information associated with their accounts after the issue has been resolved.
We will update families once we know of the next steps from Seesaw.
Respectfully,
Dr. Tad Everett
Superintendent
