This is Sterling Public Schools emailing to inform you that Sterling Public Schools will have an E-Learning Day tomorrow, Tuesday, January 21st. As a reminder, this means that all Sterling Public Schools students, PreK through SHS Seniors, will not come to school tomorrow, but rather they will do school according to our SPS E-Learning Plan. This means that it is either online learning or work that was sent home by teachers, and each building principal will provide additional details about their daily procedures through email. For families needing daycare assistance, the YMCA will offer day camp tomorrow at its Sterling facility, and they will help students with their e-learning.
The decision to not have school tomorrow is based on the National Weather Service’s Severe Cold Weather Advisory for Sterling, IL, where they are forecasting Dangerously cold conditions with wind chill temperatures falling to between negative 20 and negative 35 degrees below zero.

Our Franklin second graders recently put their descriptive writing skills to the test with a festive turkey activity! Students first colored their own turkey and then wrote a descriptive paper using adjectives to explain its unique features. The challenge? Handing their paper to a student from another class, who had to use the description to recreate the turkey without seeing the original! Through this fun and creative activity, students discovered the importance of adding specific details when describing something. They learned that the more vivid and clear the description, the better the results! We’re so thankful for our hardworking students and their creative minds. Wishing everyone a safe and wonderful Thanksgiving! 🦃❤️
