Sterling Public Schools will be having an e-learning day tomorrow, Wednesday, February 12, 2025.
As a reminder, an e-learning day means that all Sterling Public Schools students, PreK through SHS Seniors, will not come to school tomorrow, but rather they will do school according to our SPS E-Learning Plan. This means that it is either online learning or work that was sent home by teachers, and each building principal will provide additional details about their daily procedures through email. For families needing daycare assistance, the YMCA will offer day camp tomorrow at its Sterling facility, and they will help students with their e-learning.
The decision to have an e-learning day is one that we do not take lightly. Tomorrow's decision was based on the National Weather Service’s Winter Storm Warning for Sterling, IL where they are predicting 4 to 8 inches of snow, combined with high winds and cold temperatures. Additionally, they are predicting very hazardous road conditions with snow-covered surfaces and low visibility.

SHS English teacher Lauren Fritz worked with SHS Life Skills teacher Tyler Everett's Life Skills students to knit and donate scarves to first graders at Franklin Elementary. The origin of this service project aimed to honor Flight 93 and Sandy Hook victims. Fritz continues this effort at SHS as a way to teach students a new skill while bringing together the SHS and Sterling community. #GoWarriors
