We want to take a moment and honor Mrs. Kris Hippen on her retirement. She has been a valuable member of the Sterling Public School's family and she will be missed! Below are a message from Mrs. Hippen!
"I started at SPS on December 6, 1993. I worked two different jobs when I started, SHS secretary in the Guidance Office and restocking and sending out the science kits to grade schools. After a few years, the job was divided into 2 separate jobs, so I chose the Guidance Office full time (it was a 9 month position). I became Registrar after a retirement and moved to the Parent Center from the Counseling Office. I enjoyed working with high school seniors on their college applications and scholarships. The Honors Assembly was one of my favorite events each year. My coworkers in the SHS Offices were awesome and I made some long-term friendships there. A few of us would take our breaks together every morning and either walk or sit in the break room and work on a crossword puzzle (keeping our brains active). In 20+ years at SHS, I worked with more Principals, Associate Principals, Athletic Directors, and Counselors than I can count. From SHS I moved on to Lincoln School as their Secretary for 4 years and I finished my career at Jefferson as a 1:1 aide. I didn’t think a 1:1 position was for me, but I liked working with the students in small groups and helping them with their lessons. The teachers in these classrooms are the best. It was a wonderful way to end my time at SPS. All of these have been great jobs from start to finish and I will miss my coworkers at all the schools.
As for the future, Jeff and I plan to travel as much as possible and spoil our grandchildren. I’m already enjoying life as a retiree!
I forgot to mention that my first year at Jefferson all the kids in the classroom thought I was married to Batman, which is why I chose this picture!
